Arrive in Beijing, the starting city of this 10-day visa-free China route through Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Your local guide greets you at the airport and transfers you by private vehicle to your hotel in the city, about an hour away depending on traffic. Check in and rest after the flight, using free time to settle in before Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City sightseeing tomorrow.
Visit Tiananmen Square, then enter the Forbidden City, the former Ming and Qing imperial palace complex of halls, courtyards, and museum collections. Your guide explains the main axis and palace layout as you walk south to north. Late in the day, climb Jingshan Park for a high view over the Forbidden City's roofscape before returning to the hotel for overnight.
