Upon arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, your driver meets you at the exit and transfers you by private vehicle to your downtown 4-star hotel for check-in. After settling in, the rest of the day is free, with no fixed sightseeing schedule. Rest in your room after the flight and adjust to the time zone, or take a short walk near the hotel for a first look at Shanghai before tomorrow’s small-group highlights day.

After breakfast, walk historic Shikumen lanes to see old Shanghai alley housing. Continue to Yu Garden and the adjacent City God Temple Bazaar for this Ming Dynasty private garden and the old-town shopping area. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Shanghai Urban History Exhibition Hall at the base of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Take a high-speed elevator to the second sphere of the Oriental Pearl for views over both sides of the Huangpu River. Drive through the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone, then finish at the Bund Promenade among the historic waterfront buildings opposite the Pudong skyline. Return to your hotel in the evening.
