Shanghai & Suzhou City Break (Superior) - 4 Days

Upon arrival at Shanghai Airport, your local guide and driver greet you at the exit and transfer you by private vehicle to your downtown hotel. The journey takes about one hour. After check-in, the rest of the day is free, with no fixed sightseeing schedule. Rest in your room after long-haul travel, or take a short walk near the hotel to settle into Shanghai at your own pace before tomorrow’s full-day city highlights tour.

After breakfast, your guide leads a full-day Shanghai highlights tour. Visit Yu Garden and the adjacent City God Temple Bazaar to see this Ming Dynasty private garden and the old-town shopping lanes. Continue to Jade Buddha Temple, founded in 1882, known for its Burmese jade Buddha statues. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit a silk factory to learn about silk-making from cocoon to cloth. In the late afternoon, walk Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund Promenade for views of historic waterfront buildings opposite the Lujiazui skyline across the Huangpu River. Return to your hotel in the evening.

After breakfast, drive to Suzhou (about 1.5–2 hours). Visit Humble Administrator’s Garden, a major Ming Dynasty classical garden, and Lingering Garden, a Qing Dynasty garden, both known for traditional Chinese private-garden design. Lunch is at a local Suzhou restaurant. Continue to Panmen Gate, a surviving city gate with both land and water entrances. Finish with a 45-minute cruise on the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal, passing traditional houses and old bridges from the water. Return to Shanghai in the evening.

After breakfast at the hotel, complete checkout. According to your flight or train time, a private vehicle picks you up and transfers you to Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao Airport, or to Shanghai Railway Station or Hongqiao Railway Station, for your onward journey. This ends the 4-day Shanghai and Suzhou city break, with hotel nights based in Shanghai and a full Suzhou gardens day in the middle.
