Upon your arrival at Shanghai Airport, your local guide and driver will greet you at the exit and transfer you by private vehicle to your downtown hotel. The journey takes about one hour. After check-in, the rest of the day is entirely at your leisure. You may rest in your room to recover from long-haul travel fatigue. If you feel energetic, you can stroll around the nearby streets to experience the urban rhythm and local lifestyle of Shanghai. No fixed schedule today – simply relax and follow your own pace.

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a full-day highlights tour of Shanghai. First, visit Yu Garden and the adjacent City God Temple Bazaar to appreciate the exquisite Ming dynasty private garden and the bustling charm of the old town. Next, visit Jade Buddha Temple, founded in 1882, to admire the world-famous Burmese jade Buddha statues. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit a silk factory to learn about the traditional Chinese silk-making process from cocoon to finished product. After breakfast, drive to Suzhou, known as “Paradise on Earth” (about 1.5–2 hours). Visit world-famous classical gardens: Humble Administrator’s Garden, a masterpiece of the Ming Dynasty, and Lingering Garden, a classic of the Qing Dynasty, to experience the pinnacle of Chinese private garden art. Lunch at a local Suzhou restaurant. Then visit Panmen Gate, the only surviving city gate with both land and water entrances in China. Finally, take a 45-minute cruise along the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal, enjoying traditional houses and ancient bridges from the water. Return to Shanghai in the evening.
