3-Day Private Zhangjiajie Avatar Adventure from Shanghai

In the morning, transfer by private vehicle from your downtown Shanghai hotel to Pudong or Hongqiao Airport for your flight to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (approximately 2.5 hours). On arrival, your local guide will meet you and transfer you by private car to your hotel in the Wulingyuan area. The rest of the day is at leisure. Relax at the hotel or take a gentle walk nearby to experience a small mountain town surrounded by towering sandstone peaks.

Depart early for Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, China’s first national forest park. Enter through Wulingyuan Gate and take the eco-bus to the Four Gates Around Water area. Then ride the Bailong Elevator, the world’s highest outdoor elevator certified by Guinness World Records, from the foot of the mountain to Yuanjiajie in just 66 seconds. Walk the core Yuanjiajie route to see Qiankun Column, also known as Hallelujah Mountain, the real-life inspiration for the floating mountains in Avatar. Continue across the No. 1 Bridge Under Heaven, a natural stone bridge spanning a deep gorge. In the afternoon, visit Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve for quartz sandstone peak forests shaped by hundreds of millions of years of geological change, including Imperial Brush Peaks and Goddess Scattering Flowers. Later, descend toward Suoxiyu Scenic Area and ride the sightseeing train through Ten-Mile Gallery, with views of Old Man Gathering Herbs and Three Sisters Peaks.

Depart early for Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in Cili County. Choose between two routes: walk across the Yuntiandu Glass Bridge, one of the world’s longest and highest pedestrian glass bridges, or hike down the mountain trail for a closer nature experience. Both routes lead into the canyon, passing the narrow First Line of Sky, plank roads, clear streams, green pools, and waterfalls such as Celestial Waterfall and Butterfly Spring. For extra fun, you may add the optional downhill slide. In the evening, transfer to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport for your flight back to Shanghai, where a private car will take you to your hotel.
