Why choose Victoria Katarina
Choose Victoria Katarina if you want Victoria Cruises’ American-managed bilingual model on a smaller Chongqing–Yichang hull: 132 all-balcony cabins, about 264 guests. She is not Victoria’s newest or largest ship. East Marvel books the live cabin and deck on Victoria Katarina — we do not sell brochure language as a cabin type.
American-managed line. Victoria Cruises has run an American-managed model on the Yangtze for about three decades and is still the only line in that category. On Katarina that usually means English-speaking cruise staff, a foreign onboard representative, and bilingual guides on the arranged shore visits. East Marvel matches your dates to live inventory. We do not staff the ship.
All-balcony, smaller guest count. Every guest cabin is outside and has a private river-view balcony. Categories on this hull are Standard (Victoria: Superior, 19.11 sqm, Decks 2–4), Executive Suite, and Shangri-La Suite — there is no “deluxe suite” type on our page. Do not copy “all bathrooms have bathtubs.” Pick Katarina for fewer fellow guests than Victoria Sabrina or Victoria Isabella, not for a 2020s resort-scale ship.
Dining on this hull. Two restaurants. Meals marked B / L / D are typically the Dynasty buffet. The à la carte dining room is usually for Executive / Shangri-La suites or a Victoria amenities package — not automatic on every Standard ticket.
Shore visits and talks. The itinerary is the usual Chongqing–Yichang Three Gorges corridor. Arranged shore visits and Yangtze culture talks listed on the sailing are already in the fare. Optional tours sold onboard are extra.
Life onboard Victoria Katarina
A Victoria Katarina day is shore visits and river time, then meals and an evening program onboard. Included meals are the ones marked B / L / D on your itinerary, served as a buffet in the Dynasty Dining Room. East Marvel is the booking agent. The ship’s American-managed crew runs service onboard. Evenings are usually a show, cinema, or talk. It is a smaller ~264-guest river ship, not a silent all-suite yacht. Food and dining on Victoria Katarina
Katarina lists two restaurants. The fare covers a Chinese-and-Western buffet at breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Dynasty Dining Room (main deck), one sitting. The last night is usually a plated Captain’s Farewell dinner, already in the fare. Embarkation is typically dinner only; disembarkation is typically breakfast. Bar drinks and any meal not marked B / L / D are extra.
Dynasty Dining Room (included). Single sitting, buffet for B / L / D — the usual room for Standard (Victoria: Superior) cabins. Round tables, about 8–10 guests, often grouped by language, diet, and cabin. Want to sit with your own party? Note it on the Trip List and again at reception.
À la carte dining room (usually suite or extra). The second restaurant is a quieter room: buffet breakfast and lunch, à la carte at dinner on many sailings. Executive and Shangri-La suites — and any Standard sold with Victoria’s amenities package — typically choose this room at the start of the voyage. A Standard ticket without that package usually stays in Dynasty; moving across often costs extra. Confirm on that sailing. Do not copy Sabrina’s three-restaurant names onto this hull.
Dining times (typical — confirm onboard). Breakfast 07:00–08:30 · Lunch 12:00–13:30 · Dinner 19:00–20:30. Final times are on the daily program, the PA, or at reception. Allow about 1–1.5 hours.
Special diets. Tell East Marvel vegetarian, no pork, low salt, low carbohydrate, or other limits when you inquire — not only at the front desk. A certified kosher kitchen is not standard on Yangtze ships; we will say what that sailing can actually plate.
## Drinking water on Victoria Katarina
Do not drink tap water on Victoria Katarina. Each cabin gets 1–2 bottles of drinking water daily (included) and an electric kettle. With meals in the Dynasty Dining Room you typically have tea, coffee, hot water, juice, cola, Sprite, and other soft drinks. House wine at the table is not a locked inclusion on every Standard ticket — suite / amenities packages often add house wine and beer at dinner. For cocktails, sparkling wine, spirits, or extra coffee at leisure hours, use the onboard bar. Prices are posted onboard; settle with the ship. Complimentary tea and coffee are usually set out 06:30–07:00, before breakfast. Sealed water or drinks you bring are usually allowed; drink them in the cabin. See Victoria Katarina.
Included: cabin bottled water (daily), kettle, meal-time tea / coffee / soft drinks as served, early tea and coffee before breakfast. Extra: bar cocktails, sparkling wine, spirits, and most bar wine. Lounge drinks in a suite package are not the full bar list.
Cabins, beds, and suite amenities on Victoria Katarina
Victoria Katarina Standard balcony cabins (Victoria: Superior) are 19.11 sqm on Decks 2, 3, and 4. Two twin beds cannot be pushed together into one double. There is no extra bed in Standard. East Marvel books category plus deck when inventory is open — cabins are not assigned at random. Suite amenities are a Victoria package; confirm them on your sailing.
Standard cabin limits: twins do not join into a king — request large-bed on the Trip List if you need it. Three guests should book a suite, or a second cabin. Do not plan to “make a double” after you board.
Request the deck when you book. Standard cabins sit on Decks 2–4 (Deck 2 USD $824, Deck 3 $924, Deck 4 $1,024 per room as published — confirm your sailing). There is no Deck 5 Standard on this page. Do not plan on upgrading at reception after check-in: it depends on empty cabins, it costs extra, and it often fails in peak months.
Suite amenities (confirm on your sailing): Executive and Shangri-La suites — and any Superior sold with Victoria’s amenities package — typically add welcome fruit, nightly turndown with a printed daily itinerary, Executive Lounge drinks, one pre-dinner happy hour (house wine, beer, soda), diet soda at lunch and dinner, house wine and beer at dinner, and a choice of Dynasty buffet or the à la carte dining room (choose at the start of the voyage). Package Wi-Fi is usually the Executive Lounge and lobby. Early tea and coffee before breakfast are typically set out for all cabins. A private shore visit for a group of six or more is a Victoria amenity on some sailings, not an East Marvel private tour.
Activities and evening shows on Victoria Katarina
A Victoria Katarina sailing mixes shore visits with a light onboard program: tai chi on the sun deck, Yangtze culture talks if that itinerary runs them, films in the cinema, and a short staff show at night. Listed talks and shows are in the fare. Optional classes run only if enough guests sign up. East Marvel books the cabin; the ship’s crew runs the daily sheet.
Typical mornings: tai chi on the sun deck. Daytime talks, when offered, may cover Yangtze history and the Three Gorges Dam, Chinese medicine, language, brush painting, or dumpling wrapping — the list changes by sailing. Use cinema on this hull, not Sabrina’s Reel to Reel Theater. Evenings are usually a staff fashion or cabaret-style show if that sailing lists one. After that, cabin TV is available — it is not a paid theme-film package.
Captain’s Welcome and Farewell on Victoria Katarina
Welcome is usually on the second river day (captain’s toast, fruit and pastry). The Farewell dinner is the last night and is already in the fare. If a birthday falls on the sailing, tell reception — the ship may note it at Farewell; it is not a private party you book through East Marvel.
Dress: smart casual. A suit and tie or an evening gown is not required. For Welcome and Farewell, skip shorts, round-neck gym shirts, and slippers. Live dates: Victoria Katarina.
Service, laundry, Wi-Fi, and clinic on Victoria Katarina
Reception on Victoria Katarina is English-speaking. An English-speaking river guide and a cruise director run talks and gorge commentary. Laundry, Wi-Fi, spa treatments, and the clinic are extra. Airport or train after Chongqing or Yichang is not in the East Marvel USD fare.
Check in at reception after you board. The cruise director is the onboard contact for the daily program. The river guide gives the Yangtze talks listed on that sailing and commentary through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge (and Xiling when the itinerary includes it). Optional shore tours sold at reception are extra.
Front desk may help you hire a car after you leave the ship. That is not a complimentary airport transfer. Add a private transfer on a Trip List if you want East Marvel to quote it in USD. The complimentary Yichang shuttle on upstream Day 1 is a separate item on What’s included — not a Chongqing airport car.
Laundry: extra, wash-and-press only (no dry-cleaning). Bag and form in the cabin, or call reception. Not offered on boarding day or the morning you disembark. Prices posted onboard.
Wi-Fi: extra and often unstable. Lobby and public rooms first; do not promise strong cabin Wi-Fi. Suite / amenities-package Wi-Fi is usually the Executive Lounge and lobby. Do not plan work calls on ship Wi-Fi. There is no Internet Bar on our page.
Gym (fitness center) is typically open to guests. Spa, massage, and sauna — if that sailing offers them — are extra. The clinic is extra (Chinese and Western care). Confirm the clinic deck on the live deck plans; do not use competitor “5F.”

A Victoria Katarina fare includes the arranged guided shore visits printed on your Chongqing–Yichang itinerary — usually three stops, with tickets, local guide, and coach in the price. You may skip a visit and stay on the ship; that portion is not refunded. Optional tours are extra, sold at reception, and are not required. Live list: Victoria Katarina.
Included shore visits (in the cruise fare). Victoria prints the included list on each sailing. Downstream and upstream use the same corridor; the order changes. Scenic cruising through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge is part of the river day — it is not a separate ticketed tour. On most current sailings the three included visits are Fengdu · Mount Shuanggui, Shennong Stream (or Goddess Stream on some upstream days), and the Three Gorges Dam. Confirm those names on the live itinerary for your dates. During a port call you may not leave the ship on your own — only with the ship’s tour.
Optional shore visits (extra, onboard). Not in the East Marvel USD fare. Sign up and pay at reception in CNY. A tour runs only if enough guests book it. Posted amounts change; treat the figures below as a recent reference, not a locked quote.

Steps and walking.
Fengdu Ghost City, White Emperor City, and Three Gorges Summit involve stair climbing. Wear comfortable shoes. If steps are a problem, stay on the ship. These three are usually optional extras on Katarina. If a sailing lists one as an included visit, skipping is still allowed, but Victoria does not refund that portion in cash.

East Marvel books Chongqing–Yichang sailings on named ships — we do not invent cabins. This is the practical sequence: passport data, confirmation, which pier, boarding hours, service charge, optional tours, and what is not in the USD fare. When ships run and how we book
Most featured ships run March–November, Chongqing → Yichang in 4 days / 3 nights, or Yichang → Chongqing in 5 days / 4 nights. Some Victoria and Century hulls keep a thinner winter timetable (December–February) at lower fares — confirm the live ship page, not a brochure calendar.
To hold a cabin we need complete, matching passport data for every guest: full name, nationality, gender, passport number, date of birth, cabin category, how many rooms, and diet or mobility notes. If a passport is renewed after we ticket, send the new scan at once so we can update the line.
When the line accepts the hold, East Marvel sends a confirmation with ship, dates, pier notes, and remaining extras (service charge if not yet collected, transfers if you asked). Pay after that letter matches what you booked.
Which pier — Chongqing and Yichang
In 2026 most ships use Chaotianmen in Chongqing (several numbered berths — your confirmation names the one) and Maoping in Yichang. Yangtze 1 is the usual exception: Yichang No. 9 Port, not Maoping. Confirm if your sailing’s line has moved.
Typical road times (traffic varies):
- Chongqing Jiangbei Airport → Chaotianmen: about 35 km, 40–60 min
- Chongqing North Station → Chaotianmen: about 12 km, 20–40 min
- Yichang Sanxia Airport → Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal: about 30–35 km, 40–50 min
- Yichang East Station → Center: about 9–12 km, 25–30 min
- Three Gorges Center or Yichang East → Maoping: about 50–60 km, 1–1.5 hr
Downstream: board at Chaotianmen, often 18:00–21:00. Upstream: gather at Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal or Yichang East, then the line’s coach to Maoping. Victoria often publishes a complimentary shuttle window on the ship page — Victoria Sabrina is typically 17:30–20:30; Victoria Isabella is typically 17:30–20:00. Confirm yours. Call the ship number on the confirmation the day before, or the morning you board. Keep a China-reachable phone.
Airport, hotel, or station transfers are not in the cruise fare. Add a private car on a Trip List if you want East Marvel to quote it in USD.
Ticket, security, porters, check-in
Bring the passport that matches the ticket. Collect the cruise ticket at the pier, then security. A porter from taxi to gangway is cash in CNY; agree the price first (often about CNY 15 per bag). Check in at reception after you board, inside the published embarkation window — not “three hours before you get off.”
Service charge
The line charges a mandatory onboard service fee. Victoria is typically CNY 150 per person. Other companies may post a different amount. East Marvel can collect it with the fare so you do not pay cash at reception. The figure is on your confirmation. Extra tips for the river guide and cruise director stay voluntary.
Optional shore visits
The fare includes the arranged visits printed on that sailing’s itinerary (usually three on Chongqing–Yichang). Optional stops are extra, priced in CNY at reception, and run only if enough guests book (often a group of about 30 — the ship can change the minimum). You may stay onboard. You may not leave the ship on your own at a port call. Posted CNY 150–300 per extra stop is a recent range, not an East Marvel invoice.
Getting off and leaving the city
Some lines run a cheap coach to the airport or station — ask reception; it is not automatic and not our USD fare. Front desk can help you hire a car. For a private transfer or a half-day in Chongqing or Yichang before you fly, put it on the Trip List in advance.
Ports, coach hours, and service-charge amounts change by line and season. The confirmation East Marvel sends for your sailing overrides this page.
