Hongyadong Folk Custom Area
An 11-story stilt-house complex rising 79 metres at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. By night the layered houses glow like the bathhouse in Spirited Away, overlooking the two rivers — Chongqing's most iconic landmark.
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street
China's only monument to victory in the War of Resistance, ringed by one of Chongqing's busiest shopping and street-food districts. Nearby Bayi Food Street gathers noodles, hotpot and spicy-sour noodles — modern commerce meeting wartime history.
Ciqikou Ancient Town

Yangtze River Cableway

The peak of late Chinese grotto art, begun in 650 AD and carved across dynasties. Baoding Mountain's Thousand-Hand Guanyin, Six Realms of Reincarnation and Three Saints of Avatamsaka are exquisite and vividly lifelike.

Nanbin Road Riverside Walk
Strung along the south bank, "Chongqing's Bund" is the classic night stroll. Clock Tower Plaza is the golden viewpoint — the whole Yuzhong skyline, Raffles' sails, the Jiefangbei towers and the two-rivers confluence laid out before you, the Yangtze rushing past below, far from the crowds.

Chongqing Grand Theatre
A sail-shaped landmark on the Jialing River and the face of the city's performing arts. The main hall hosts symphonies, original Broadway musicals (Cats, Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, Du Fu), world-class ballet and grand opera; the Chongqing Symphony stages its original "City of Heroes," weaving Hongyan history into the score.
Riverside Open-Air Concerts
In festival seasons and on summer nights the city moves symphony, folk, jazz and pop onto the banks of the Yangtze and Jialing — mountains for a backdrop, the river breeze a natural sound stage, the far-shore lights the set.
